Facebook Etiquette: Tips to Save Face

I have been on Facebook promoting www.here2helpservices.com for a while now and there are a few things I've noticed. Because of the nature of my business and actvities on the Internet, I have several friends who are in the MLM industry. Most of these people are great! Helpful, informative and kind, but some are go-getters with one thing in mind - THEIR business.

To help others on Facebook I have compiled a list of activities that could offend people. It's good to be aware. It helps you grow. I'm sure there are other things to add to my list, so I will add them in at the bottom of the list as I come across them.

Don't tag someone in a video they really aren't part of.
Some of the MLM'ers do this and then I am notified of EVERY comment made on a video. Sometimes I am not interested and find this rude, disruptive, and violating.

Grow your brain.Easy on the inbox.
The same goes for emails and photos. For example, currently I am tied in to an email conversation between some young girls. It's gotten vulgar at times and embarassing for all the parties involved, yet I stand helpless and part of something I want nothing to do with.

Don't make someone part of something without asking.
And if it happens, respect them, and let it go. Don't tie up the inbox and updates and email alerts of hopeless people. If you have something to say, post it on your wall, or create a page. And if you really have to send out emails, please limit them to save all of us time.

Tell people what you're up to.
It's so easy. My page Here 2 Help Services is a place where I can share all the helpful information I have on online business tips, web design & tips, Alzheimer's information, product reviews, well being articles, poetry and more. I don't want you to buy anything you don't want and that isn't why I have you come to my site. I want to share with you and make a living doing it. I bring you the truth from my viewpoint. I advertise for companies so when you come to my site, see something you like and click through to the company, I receive credit for bringing you there. It's up to you if you click directly to them and let me have the credit or if you click through for someone else. If there is an ad, there is an affiliate behind it. And that's what I'm up to.

Don't say it's free if it isn't.
Can't anyone be original anymore? So many marketers tell you, "click here and I'll give you the secrets for free." I haven't found one yet that is completely free and doesn't give you this flowery walk through about why they are different. Maybe at first. Maybe the first round of information is free but that's just to rope you in. To find out more, you need to pay this or do this. I assure you once I see any $ signs, I hit the X button. Be upfront and honest and your results would be better.

Limit page requests.
Lately, my friends on Facebook have increased and so each day I send out invites to my pages,  Here 2 Help Services and Public reView and I apologize if you have received a lot of invites. I try not to send requests to those I have sent it to before, but sometimes I forget who I have sent it to. This is why it is so important to use the list options. I intend to start using lists to avoid irritating people with my requests.

Facebook application awareness.
Not everyone is on Facebook to play games and answer quizzes. It's like the page requests. Every time I get a new request, I click on Block This Application. That is the best way to avoid all those invitations if you aren't playing. I used to spend so much time declining those offers and I am so happy I don't now! To those that send them, please don't send to everyone. Select those who you think would enjoy it.

Be aware of others.
People of all ages are on Facebook, young and old. We should  respect elders and set an example for our youth. My eyes have been opened wide on Facebook. I can't believe what young kids say now a days! And the worst part is knowing that some of my friends, older than I, are seeing it. I can't imagine talking that way around my grandparents. And to the adults, youth are on Facebook! Just because you may not have an impressionable mind on your lists, someone might. There is no need for trash talk.

Well, there you have it. These are the things that really bug me about Facebook. I hope I haven't offended any of my MLM friends. If you have others to add to the list, post them on my page Here 2 Help Services and I will add them here!
